I’m looking to import an Autozam AZ-1 to the US and now is the time to start looking before the prices skyrocket (2017 they are eligible for import 92 model years). Any Japanese Car Importers on here that can help out? Or someone who is familiar with the process that knows of a decent place to go through?
I’ve been searching goo-net and japan partner and a few others for years.

Bird has imported a bunch of fun Japanese things to the US, but I’m not sure how much Bird is around these days. Flavien Vidal is all over importing stuff to the UK, but that’s the UK, and duurtlang is experienced in Euro to US imports, but on the other side. So yes, we do have importy loons on here, but getting a relevant and helpful response may be tricky.

Do you really think the prices for these will actually raise once they’re legal? I mean sure everyone loves em but I doubt many people are actually willing to buy one lol, if I had the means (being in Canada with a 15 year rule) I’d seriously consider it.

Suggestion: search for a Suzuki Cara instead. It’s the exact same car but the fact that nobody knows it exists means prices are much lower.

I’ve noticed a good 2-3k USD increase between the 92 and 93 models already. They were made in such small numbers and the fans of them are just crazy enough to actually get them.

They are just enough different that I prefer the az-1's looks more. And I’m a mazda fanboy...

Suzuki did all the work FYI. Mazda just threw money at it. The car you want is a Suzuki.

Aren’t these over 10 grand already? I love Kei cars as much as anyone else but that is hela steep for a 25 year old kei car that didn’t cost that much when it was new.

Definitely recommend Japenese Classic Cars, they imported Doug’s skyline as well as my Santana. They were excellent to deal with and had amazing facilities. They won't import one now but they will certainly start looking for one now. They go to Japan and hand inspect all the cars.

It’s a car I’m buying for me and have no plans to ever get rid of it. I’ve liked them since I found out they existed, so I plan on paying to play. Gullwing doors, mid rear engine, manual, and I can park wherever I want. It’s like the AW11 I have now, but even more quirky and rare.

Maybe after all is said and done, over 10k USD. When I was looking last year, 90k yen was the high end of the range. If you’re talking CAD, then yeah. I can see over 10k. The Loonie is taking a beating right now.

The cars there were top notch so they were more expensive than the guy doing it as a hobby. They have a great website so definitely take a look for yourself.

emailed them, they don’t have any leads on any. Couldn’t say when they would, just that they are looking. So I’m going it on my own through the internet.
